37th Technical Conference & Exhibition- Morocco

AgriFuture Middle East & Africa magazine is pleased to publish the key recommendations of the 37th Technical Conference & Exhibition, which was held in Morocco at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) from 16–18 September 2025. The recommendations are outlined as follows:

▫️ Companies should adopt long-term strategies that balance competitiveness with sustainability, focusing on innovation, decarbonization, and adapting to evolving regional markets.

▫️ Companies should follow practical decarbonization pathways by revamping existing plants to reduce CO₂ emissions 30–50%, accelerating green/blue/hybrid ammonia, and advancing green urea production.

▫️ Companies should prioritize innovation in product development through low-carbon fertilizers, sulphur-enhanced urea, sustainable phosphate additives, SOP production by sustainable means, and advanced catalyst technologies.

▫️ Companies should improve energy efficiency in fertilizer plants by optimizing waste heat recovery, process gas cooling, CFD-based design, and next-generation reactor development.

▫️ Companies should embrace digital transformation by adopting AI, digital twins, remote monitoring, and integrated operations centers to optimize production, improve energy use, and enhance reliability.

▫️ Companies should shift toward predictive and AI-driven maintenance with real-time monitoring, automated diagnostics, and catalyst monitoring platforms to minimize downtime and extend asset life.

▫️ Companies should modernize mining and fertilizer operations through automation, digitalization, and integrated safety systems to improve efficiency, sustainability, and operator readiness.

▫️ Companies should explore circular economy opportunities such as nutrient recycling, bio-based feedstocks, and broader integration of green hydrogen in fertilizer value chains.

▫️ Companies should strengthen supply chain resilience by diversifying procurement strategies, adapting to changing phosphate trade flows, and preparing for fragmented and volatile global fertilizer markets.

▫️ Companies should closely monitor rising demand for water-soluble phosphates (tMAP) and adapt strategies to capture growth opportunities in agriculture and the battery industry, especially in China.

▫️ Companies should collaborate with licensors, EPC contractors, and technology providers to accelerate the deployment of innovative solutions and shorten implementation timelines.

▫️ Companies should engage governments, regulators, and farmers to align incentives, policies, and best practices that support sustainable production and use of fertilizers.

▫️ Companies should advocate for supportive policy frameworks and breakthrough initiatives that make sustainable fertilizer production economically viable and globally competitive.
