Agricultural Processing Products: A Strategic Pillar of the Ministry of Environment to Enhance Food Security and Support the Kingdom’s Economy

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has emphasized the importance of supporting agricultural processing products to maximize the use of seasonal crops, particularly during the winter season, which witnesses abundant production of fruits and vegetables. Such products contribute to improving the quality of local production, enhancing the added value of the agricultural sector, and supporting the Kingdom’s economy in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
This comes as part of the objectives of the awareness campaign launched by the Ministry under the slogan “Shetana Sah” (Healthy Winter) in its second edition, aimed at raising environmental awareness within society about the importance of protecting natural resources and highlighting the role of agricultural processing products in developing crops and producing local winter foods that contribute to strengthening food security in the Kingdom.
The Ministry noted that agricultural processing products enhance the quality of local production and expand its uses, while also helping to utilize surplus crops by converting them into high-quality food products, such as dates, which can be processed into juices, sweets, and natural sugars.
It added that natural milk can be processed into various products such as cheese, dairy products, and butter, enriching dining tables with diverse flavors. These activities also contribute to increasing farmers’ incomes and supporting productive families, strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises, and creating promising investment opportunities in both local and international markets.
The Ministry called on members of the community to reduce food waste and protect natural resources and agricultural crops, as they represent a fundamental pillar in achieving food security and enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of resource use. This contributes to safeguarding national wealth, reducing losses, and supporting efforts to preserve the environment and ensure the availability of resources for future generations.
