Saudi Deputy Minister of Environment Witnesses Signing of 38 Cooperation Agreements to Promote Innovation and Localize Modern Technologies in the Water Sector

His Excellency Eng. Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, witnessed the signing of 38 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements between the Ministry’s ecosystem and a number of government entities, private sector companies, and universities. The agreements aim to support the localization and adoption of modern technologies, foster innovation, build capacities, and facilitate the exchange of expertise in the water sector, contributing to its development and improved efficiency in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The signing took place during the opening of the inaugural Saudi Water Week, which launched in Jeddah and will continue for one week. The event supports the Kingdom’s efforts to advance and develop the water sector while reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in achieving water security and sustainability. It has attracted broad participation from national, regional, and international stakeholders.
The Ministry explained that the agreements are intended to promote knowledge exchange, strengthen and develop human capabilities in the water sector, encourage innovation and the localization of advanced technologies, and collaborate on raising public awareness of water conservation and efficiency. They also focus on deploying smart technologies to improve water efficiency, enhancing water use efficiency in agriculture and airports, and training and qualifying irrigation system auditors.
The Ministry added that the signing included six memoranda of understanding between the Ministry and the following entities: the Saudi Water Authority, Water Academy, Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration, Qadaa Association, Legal Compliance Magazine, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
The remaining memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements were signed between organizations within the Ministry’s ecosystem and various government entities, private sector companies, and universities. Participating organizations included the Saudi Water Authority, National Water Company, General Irrigation Corporation, National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center, National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidamah), National Environment Academy, Water Academy, Saudi Reef Academy, and Saqaya Charity Foundation.
