Saudi Arabia Wins Global Quality Standards Award for Sustainable Development for Agricultural Extension App for 2024
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture through its Agricultural Extension Platform, has earned the Global Quality Standards Award for Sustainable Development 2024. The ministry received a certificate from the World Federation of United Nations Friends, marking it as the first government entity to be recognized as the best in the agricultural sector for 2024. This recognition was presented during the Sustainable Development Goals Empowering the Future in the Middle East event, under the theme Advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for a Prosperous Region
Saudi Arabia has been recognized for its seek of sustainable development, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The award highlights the nation’s efforts to preserve natural resources and promote sustainable practices across all sectors. This initiative not only focuses on preserving the environment and natural resources but also positions Saudi Arabia as a leader in sustainable development on both regional and global levels
The Agricultural Extension Platform serves farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, and beekeepers across the Kingdom, providing immediate advice by facilitating direct contact with experts and specialists in various agricultural fields. With over 400 guides across the regions of the Kingdom
The application has registered 270,286 farmers and includes 426 guides. It has provided a total of 4,288,474 consultations to farmers and has handled 2,598,789 calls. Additionally, the platform has sent approximately 1,653,247 text messages and addressed 939,875 consultations in the Ask about a Plant or Pest Section. Farmers have also benefited from 529 weather warnings, 432 episodes, and 3,054 soil and water analyses
