Egypt’s Agricultural Exports Rise to 6.24 Million Tons Thanks to New Market Openings

Egypt’s agricultural exports have risen to 6.24 million tons from the beginning of 2025 until mid-July, an increase of 575,000 tons compared to the same period last year, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, Alaa Farouk, announced on Tuesday that citrus fruits topped the list of agricultural exports with a total exceeding 1.9 million tons, followed by potatoes with more than 1.3 million tons.

Fresh onion exports reached 231.9 thousand tons, while grapes ranked fourth with 159.4 thousand tons, followed by sweet potatoes with 123.8 thousand tons. Other products in Egypt’s export portfolio included beans, mangoes, garlic, guavas, and various other crops.

Farouk noted that Egypt successfully opened eight new export markets for grapes, pomegranates, mangoes, potatoes, and potato seeds, with the Agricultural Quarantine Authority enabling entry into new global markets such as South Africa, Costa Rica, Uzbekistan, India, and the Philippines.

He added that the growth in agricultural exports was driven by cooperation between farmers, producers, and exporters, along with a commitment to producing high-quality crops, adhering to good agricultural practices, and ensuring continuous monitoring of shipments from farms to their arrival in foreign markets.
